The name of this site

This site hosts my ideas on how to create new online businesses, make money, advance e-commerce, make money, fight world hunger, make money.

I recently wrote an ebook named “eBusiness Proposals”, with several ideas for websites or portals. At this point I am launching a blog with the same texts, because of the useful features provided by this format. I can easily edit the ideas, receive comments on them and modify the category.

I always have more ideas for things to do than time and resources. Selling ideas has proved very difficult. See my article on Idea Markets for a deep discussion of this issue.

How do you call someone who has ideas and tries to sell them? I am certainly not Idealistic, in the sense of doing things for free. The word Ideotic sounds dangerously close to Idiotic, and most of the time, that is the case.

Ideator is a nice option. But where can one study to become an Ideator and get a diploma?. And which University will provide a guarantee that a Graduated Ideator will be able to produce a single good idea, ever? How an Ideator would advertise and sell his ideas? I do not see it. And a website named ideator.com (name is taken) would sound too presumptuous.

Ideologist is another term that comes to mind, but it has a political connotation that I reject. Unless a politician wants to hire me, as advisor, publicist or candidate for a meaningful post.

So, I stuck with Ideotic.com. It will provide some attention, is not too pompous, honest (some of the ideas can be rather on the idiotic side) and marks the fact that ideas might sound nonsensical or funny, until someone finds a commercial twist to it.

Ad creative writers are also a related profession, cause they often deliver ideas useful for selling stuff. However, I hate the prospect of creating ideas for a stupid household product. Defining stupid as all the products that are not mine.

Ideotic.com gives me freedom to speculate, associate and brainstorm, essential steps of a truly creative process.

As preparation for this book a read a few books on creativity, lateral thinking and futurology. Plus a number of titles on business innovation, becoming a millionaire and being successful. All this reading confirms the humble Ideotic.com name, and the attempt to obtain partners for new endeavours.
