Trained pets can be very valuable for the blind or handicapped. However, the task of training animals to guide a blind person thru streets and traffic lights is complex and expensive.
The same applies to drug-sniffing dogs, and to those that can bring objects to a bed-restrained person.
In some countries monkeys are trained to bring fruit from the trees. And a chimp or smaller monkey could be very useful for a handicapped.
Monkeys learn human language, if trained with enough time and patience.
The cheapest way to train an animal is using a robot. Once the process has been modelled by a human, it is only a matter of keeping the robot close to the subjects to be trained.
